Istanbul, the 2010 European Capital of Culture and “the most inspiring city in the world,” will show itself to Europe and the world through a new advertising campaign featuring giant photos and a short film.
“The most inspiring city in the world” is the slogan of the 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency’s advertising campaign, which aims to make a place for Istanbul in people’s minds, not only for next year’s campaign, but also for the city’s long-term brand management.
The new advertising campaign can be seen both abroad and in Turkey, with the international campaign including outdoor billboards placed in major European cities, such as Paris and Venice. The campaign will make its big splash just before Jan. 16, the official launch of the 2010 European Capital of Culture events.
The two main features of the advertising campaign abroad are a large photograph of Istanbul’s historic peninsula and a one-minute movie designed to interest foreigners in the city. The giant photograph of the historic peninsula is already on display in European cities.
The domestic campaign will kick off Dec. 11 with three short films aiming to focus locals’ attention on the city’s great features, often forgotten during people’s busy daily routines.
The campaign is expected to continue until February through different channels, including TV, Internet and radio ads and outdoor billboards.
