After ten years of speculation, the beautiful city of Alanya, in southern Turkey, has been given the go ahead for its own International airport.
Gazipasa Airport is a mere 33km from Alanya city centre and will be fully operational by mid 2008. In a recent statement Dr Sener, CEO of TAV Airports Holding, stated that they aimed to maximise the passenger capacity of Gazipasa Airport with a new investment and to make it an international airport serving Alanya and the surrounding region by extending the runway of the airport.
Currently those visiting or holidaying in Alanya have to fly to Antalya international airport – a 90-minute car journey away. The new airport will cut the post flight travel time to a mere 20 to 30 minutes. |
